Michael Probst and Gerhard „Georgie“ Schönauer have been making music together in different bands playing different musical styles since 1983.

In 1994 Michael Probst founds the blues band" Midnight Special" with Georgie Schönauer on bass, who quits the band in 1999 due to musical disagreements with the other members in the band.

As a result they both start working together as a duo playing blues, folk & country music.

At the beginning of the year 2000 the "Midnight Special" officially split.

In autumn of the same year they both invite the two young female musicians Andrea Karner (guitar, vocal & clarinet) and Lisa Park (violin) to play with them during a gig at the restaurant "Zur Lindenwirtin".

After the gig the four spontaneously decide to play together as a band called „The Rambling Ponies“.

From now on they play gigs in different pubs, streetfestivals a.s.o.

In January of the year 2002 Lisa Park has to go back to Korea, her home country for family reasons.

With the vacant position of a violin player not filled, the remaining members of the band, decide to adapt their programme.

At the same time Michael Probst starts writing songs of his own which are added to the programme.

Since autumn 2002 „ The Rambling Ponies“ have successfully been playing their programme of country, folk and blues standards as a trio.

In June 2004 their CD "Dusty Road", including 10 own songs, is brought out in own production.

At the beginning of the year 2005 Lara Rainer joins the band and makes the sound of the Ponies complete again with her violin.

Early 2007 the ponies release their 2nd CD called "COVERED" from own production. It contains 12 Coversongs and a bonus-track with Georgie playing the drums.
